Dear Friend of Mountain Area Preservation,
Each year, advocacy creates a positive benefit, whether for the watershed, rugged landscapes, mountain critters, or us, the lucky humans who get to enjoy open spaces and wild places to roam and recreate. It also activates our ability to enjoy world-class recreation in Tahoe, whether skiing, biking, hiking, paddling, climbing, or wildlife watching. Advocacy makes the outdoors accessible.
Through grassroots, member-based environmental advocacy, MAP’s work has saved treasured landscapes from the threats of poorly-planned growth. With member power, critical habitats in the Martis Valley, Donner Summit, Brockway Summit, and Canyon Springs were protected by preventing unchecked development, saving over 7,000 acres in perpetuity with our conservation partners, and your investment in advocacy.
While residents and visitors enjoy access to these amazing places, the threats of overdevelopment and climate vulnerability are always on the horizon. This is why we need your support now more than ever, as a MAP member in 2025. By becoming a MAP member, your dollars are hard at work, sustaining MAP’s efforts to protect open space in the Tahoe and Martis watersheds, as well as land use review for 20+ projects in the Truckee and Tahoe region.
Help MAP make a positive impact for Truckee Tahoe and become a MAP member!
Onward,
